Benefits of working with Call of the Wild

WHY USE THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT?

Choose Call of the Wild for your school residential and experience a variety of outdoor activities that are designed to build teamwork, leadership, and resilience within a secure and nurturing environment. We have a residential outdoor education centre set in 73 acres which you will have sole use of which allows students to experience the outdoors in a safe and controlled environment, as well as a team of professional & experienced instructors.

Safety is our Priority

For your peace of mind, we have an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority Licence (Reg. No. L3302/R1140), are an accredited activity provider with the Wales Tourist Board, and are a member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning.

Staffing

We employ permanent staff so you know who you are dealing with. Our highly experienced instructors have the necessary qualifications, experience, local knowledge, personal qualities, and communication skills to ensure the enjoyment and safety of the group.

Friendly and Hospitable Staff

You want to feel comfortable and at ease. We are famous for our friendly and approachable staff. Experience our warm Welsh hospitality to put you at ease during your stay with us.

Activities at Inspiring Natural Locations

We use the natural environment for our activities. Given our location on the southern edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park and close to the Gower Peninsula, the first region in the UK to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, we do not have to manufacture activities or venues. The majority of activities are within 15-20 minutes. Others can be walked to from your accommodation.

Not Just a Residential but a Total Residential Experience

You need value for money and value for time. This is why we seek to provide a total experience. You can not only participate in the adventure activities but also stay in the bunkhouse or camp on our 72-acre centre in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, and learn about Welsh culture and history.

We Understand Your Needs

One of the main recommendations of the Government’s guidelines for school visits is that each school have a named Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC). This person is responsible for considering matters such as safety procedures and risk assessments. To ease this burden Call of the Wild has a dedicated Schools and Youth Coordinator who is aware of your requirements and is very happy to talk through any issues you wish to discuss. We actively encourage you to come and visit us at any time. Examples of our risk assessments and safety procedures are available on this site and we are happy for you to contact our previous customers.

All-Inclusive Package

You don’t want the problem of having to work out what’s excluded from the price you’re quoted. Our prices are all-inclusive. This includes accommodation, all meals, activities, instruction, equipment, and transport to and from the activities. Evening activities can also be arranged. There are no fixed instructor hours. We can even arrange transport to and from your home base. Give us a call for more details.

Quality

We control all our activities and team games/challenges, nothing is outsourced. This is important for quality control and safety.

Accessible

You want somewhere easy to find and close to home. We are just 20 minutes off the M4, so there is no difficult map reading. We are based on the southern edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park which is the closest mountainous National Park to London and the M4 corridor.

Visiting Staff Can Relax

We actively encourage groups to expend as much energy and enthusiasm as possible during their stay. The groups are entertained during the day and evening activities can be arranged. This allows visiting staff to relax. Evening activities can include overnight camping with a campfire, overnight shelter building, a night walk, mini Olympics, football, rounders, disco, and many more options.

To Fit All Sizes

We have a wide selection of activities which are suitable for all ages and abilities. Our courses are designed to be inclusive so that nobody is alienated. We want everyone to participate.

Sole Use

Our policy is that with normal group sizes, you will not be joined with other groups. This ensures there is no conflict between visiting parties as can be the case at other centres.

“We had an amazing time at Call of the Wild. All the staff were fantastic and friendly and the kids felt at ease and happy during our stay. And that goes for myself and Miss Hill, the other member of staff also.” Ysgol Hamadryad School, 2023
